At Novella Women’s Health, we believe every woman deserves access to preventive health services. The West Virginia Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program (BCCSP) helps eligible women receive important breast and cervical cancer screenings at little or no cost. Our team is committed to helping patients navigate the process and connect with the resources available to them.

What is the BCCSP?

The West Virginia Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program is a statewide program designed to improve access to life-saving breast and cervical cancer screening services and follow-up care.

Through this program, eligible women may receive:

Breast Health Services

  • Screening mammograms
  • Diagnostic mammograms
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Clinical breast examinations
Cervical Health Services
  • Pap tests
  • HPV testing
  • Pelvic examinations
  • Cervical cancer screening
Additional Diagnostic Services and Care Coordination
If an abnormal screening result is identified, additional testing and treatment resources may be available to eligible patients. Depending on the diagnosis and eligibility requirements, assistance programs associated with BCCSP may help provide access to:

Breast Services
  • Diagnostic mammography
  • Breast ultrasound
  • Surgical consultation
  • Fine needle aspiration (FNA)
  • Breast biopsy procedures
  • Pathology services
Cervical Services
  • Repeat Pap testing
  • HPV testing
  • Colposcopy and cervical biopsies
  • Endocervical curettage (ECC)
  • Treatment of cervical precancerous conditions
  • Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP)
  • Cold knife cone biopsy (conization)
  • Cervical cryotherapy
  • Laser treatment of the cervix
  • Diagnostic dilation and curettage (D&C), when appropriate
Cancer Treatment Assistance
Women diagnosed with breast cancer, cervical cancer, or certain precancerous conditions may qualify for additional coverage through the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Medicaid Treatment Act. This program can provide access to medically necessary treatment and ongoing care while active treatment is being received.

Who May Qualify?

Women who:

  • Are residents of West Virginia
  • Meet age requirements established by the program
  • Are uninsured or underinsured
  • Meet income eligibility guidelines
Eligibility requirements are determined by the State of West Virginia and may change over time.

Will having insurance automatically disqualify me?
Not necessarily. Women who are underinsured may still qualify for assistance.

What services are covered?
Covered services may include mammograms, Pap tests, HPV testing, colposcopy, breast biopsies, LEEP procedures, cold knife cone biopsies, and other diagnostic testing when medically necessary.

Can Novella Women’s Health help me with the paperwork?
Yes. Our team is happy to assist patients with understanding the program and completing any required forms.

What if cancer or precancerous changes are found?
Additional resources and treatment programs may be available to eligible women to ensure they receive timely, medically necessary care.
