Routine screening mammograms generally begin at age 40 for women at average risk. However, your personal and family history matters! Women with a first-degree relative (mother, sister, or daughter) who has had breast cancer may need to begin screening earlier, sometimes as early as age 30. Talk with your healthcare provider to determine when screening should begin based on your individual risk factors.
You may experience temporary pressure or discomfort, but breast compression lasts only briefly.
Dense breast tissue is common and completely normal.
